FAQ

A few things you might be wondering about Ella’s Herbs and our products.

Our Drops

What is a Drop?

Our Drops are liquid herbal food supplements made by extracting the naturally occurring compounds of herbs in water and concentrating the extract. A small amount of alcohol and vegetable glycerine is then added to preserve the extract and maintain its quality.

Why do your Drops contain alcohol?

The small amount of alcohol is used to preserve the extract and keep it stable over time. When taken as directed, the amount of alcohol per serving is very small.

How should I store my Drops?

Store your Drops in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Always check the best-before date and storage instructions on the packaging.

What's the difference between your Drops and a tincture?

Traditional tinctures are extracted using a hydroalcoholic solution as the primary solvent. Our Drops are extracted in water and then preserved with a small amount of alcohol and vegetable glycerine. This allows us to create a liquid herbal extract with a much lower alcohol content than a traditional tincture.

Ingredients & Production

Where do you source your herbs?

The herbs used in our products are sourced by our Swiss laboratory from Switzerland and across Europe. We carefully select high-quality botanicals of organic origin, with particular attention to quality and traceability.

Where are your products produced?

Our products are produced in small batches in collaboration with a Swiss laboratory in the canton of Valais.

Using Our Drops

How often should I take my Drops?

Herbs are traditionally enjoyed as part of a regular daily routine rather than just occasionally. While every plant is different, many herbalists favour consistency over occasional use. Think of your Drops as a daily ritual, something to enjoy regularly rather than only when you feel you need them. Always follow the recommended directions for use on the label.

Can I take several Drops together?

Yes, many people enjoy combining different herbal preparations as part of their daily routine. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication, or have a medical condition, we recommend consulting a qualified healthcare professional before combining herbs.

Can I use your Drops alongside medication?

Some herbs may interact with certain medications. If you are taking prescription medication, we recommend checking with a qualified healthcare professional before using a herbal supplement.

Can I take your Drops while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Our Drops contain alcohol and are therefore not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Some of the herbs used may also be unsuitable during this time.

About Herbalism

Why choose herbal preparations?

Herbalism is one of humanity’s oldest traditions. For thousands of years, people across cultures have learned from the plants around them and passed that knowledge from one generation to the next.

This long relationship with plants has shaped much of what we know about medicinal herbs today, and has even contributed to the development of some modern medicines.

At Ella’s Herbs, we see herbalism not as a replacement for modern medicine, but as a living tradition worth keeping alive. Our products are one way of bringing some of that plant knowledge back into everyday life.

Any tips from a herbalist?

Always cover your herbal infusions while they steep! Many aromatic herbs contain volatile compounds that can escape with the steam. Keeping a lid on your cup helps keep more of those aromatic compounds in your infusion, which is where you want them.
